Master of resonant modal traditions

Trained in the classical radif and Kurdish sacred rhythms across Tehran and Hawraman, Fardin Abbasi brings four decades of acoustic discipline to international concert stages.

The Chronicle

Tehran radif to Helsinki stages

Raised within the rhythmic traditions of Iranian Kurdistan, Abbasi studied under revered masters of the daf and tombak in Tehran, refining an austere technique rooted in classical radif modal systems and spiritual polyrhythms of Hawraman.

Relocating to Finland, he established the Road Ensemble and sustained collaborations with Nordic chamber musicians and academic faculties, establishing a rigorous pedagogical presence and presenting traditional percussion as an evolving acoustic architecture.

Critical reception

Abbasi's daf resonates not as mere accompaniment, but as an austere physical architecture of memory, commanded with astonishing dynamic control and vocal depth.
